Crowdsourced contest for recovering addicts

Elements Behavioral Health and IntheRooms recently announced they would partner together to drive a new campaign that will utilize the popularity of crowdsourcing to enhance a vibrant product already used by those who are in substance abuse recovery.

The campaign for the iPromises Recovery companion “Best New Feature Challenge”  launched on November 1 and will run until November 28.  This exciting campaign gives the recovery community the opportunity to provide insight and input into the next feature to be installed in the iPhone application, and gives them the possibility to win an iPad for the best new feature identified.

Elements Behavioral Health is a leading US based behavioral health care organization, and InTheRooms is an online social networking platform for those who are recovering from substance abuse.

According to David Sack, MD and CEO of Elements Behavioral Health, the recovery community is one of the closest knit groups globally due to their commitment to each other and their continued sobriety.

“By creating an opportunity for them to participate in the development of our mobile app series we will be providing a product that is needed and wanted by our target audience, “ Dr. Sack said.

Added Ron Tannebaum, co-founder of InTheRooms, “We are extremely excited for this opportunity to partner with one of the leaders in addiction recovery and to give our members a chance to apply their ‘recovery know-how’ in a fun, unique way.”

iPromises Recovery Companion is an iPhone application designed exclusively and specifically for those who are living in what is known as the “recovery community.”  This application has a variety of features that help individuals recovering from a variety of addictive and abusive illnesses manage their recovery process more efficiently.

Since its launch in June, the iPromises Recovery Companion has received over 4,000 downloads and multiple positive customer reviews and featured media reviews. The application is currently available for a free download on iTunes.

The iPromises application has trigger alerts, a visual journal, and a directory of phone numbers to find AA meetings any where in the US, Canada, and a few other international locations.  You can also add friends, share meetings, track your progress and challenges, and receive daily positive messages.

Winners will be announced December 10, 2010, and will be determined by members of the combined management teams of Elements Behavioral Health and InTheRooms.  Their combined objective is to go live with the new feature application by Spring 2011.
