CrowdEngine Technology Now Takes Crowdsourcing to Where the Workers Are
CrowdFlower announced a new platform which will enable Fortune 500 companies to use crowdsourcing to address their data management needs. The new enterprise crowdsourcing platform uses a patent-pending CrowdEngine technology system allowing global enterprises to streamline their large-scale business processes and get accurate and automated results at low costs.
The new platform has been tested by eBay and Microsoft and is now being launched to a broader set of companies. What sets this new release apart from existing crowdsourcing solutions is the ability to take work to where the crowds are, rather than recruiting crowds to their pool of work.
Because it is so hugely scalable it can be used by Fortune 500 companies giving them a faster alternative to outsourcing their data management work. Examples include SEO content creation, eCommerce product categorization, brand sentiment analysis and business and marketing data verification and enrichment.
Since it started using the new platform, eBay reported a 70% decrease in cost of categorization rate, a 30% increase in accuracy and results five times faster than those outsourcing provided.
Crowdsourcing offers an appealing alternative to a traditional outsourcing engagement. Offering access to a pool of contributors of unprecedented size, crowdsourcing can scale up and down dynamically to meet an organization’s needs.

CrowdFlower’s platform has processed, to date, more than 200 million tasks that reach a crowd of 1.5 million global contributors through multiple channels. Using the channel approach, the platform approaches people where they hang out, such as FarmVille, enabling any size client to achieve the immediate scale they demand.
In places where an individual needs to perform a small task to advance to the next level in a game, a microtask could appear, allowing them to ‘level up’ instead of paying real cash or taking a Netflix survey. Through CrowdFlower’s partnership with 3rd party integrators, microtasks could appear nearly anywhere allowing individuals to perform crowdwork without even realizing it.
CrowdFlower also guarantees accuracy rates above 90% through a very specific set of programmed control features. According to CrowdFlower the best way to ensure accuracy is to program it and, because it’s so hard to make multiple tasks accurate, the company has been testing and finding anomalies over the last year, automating quality and accuracy.
Crowdsourcing is no longer limited to early adopter companies. The scale and technology only available in CrowdFlower’s Enterprise Crowdsourcing Platform delivers orders of magnitude improvements in cost, efficiency and accuracy of task-based work which enables adoption by global businesses.
