InnoCentive Partners with Popular Science to Promote Innovation

InnoCentive is partnering with the magazine Popular Science to further their efforts of connecting companies to problem solvers and innovators. The new Popular Science Open Innovation Pavilion, which will be hosted on both sites, will connect engineers, architects, tinkerers, and inventors to a diverse set of problems affecting the world. The featured challenge of this partnership offers a $25,000 guaranteed prize pool for innovative middle school science lesson plans.

The new platform hopes that by connecting the diverse communities to problems that need solving new ideas can be developed more efficiently and quickly than before. Popular Science’s large readership of tech-savvy innovators may be able to apply their skills to solve major problems confronting organizations around the world.

Popular Science and InnoCentive want to connect organizations that have important problems and Challenges to the people and global communities who can best solve them. We’ve built this Pavilion for companies, public sector agencies, universities and other institutions to put their most pressing problems in front of InnoCentive’s global community of hundreds of thousands of Solvers, Popular Science’s millions of readers and other creative and passionate people interested in making tomorrow better than today.
Mark Jannot, Editor-in-Chief at Popular Science

The featured Challenge of the new Pavilion aims at giving teachers the tools to excite the passions of their students. The lessons must be teachable in a few classes and include a hands-on section that gives students the opportunity to learn how science and engineering work. This could be a major step forward in crowdsourcing education and addressing issues which affect millions of people.
