Crowdsourced Video Production Now Available in Brazil
Poptent, a popular crowdsourced video production company, today announced the opening of an office in Sao Paulo, Brazil to keep up with growing international demand for its services while simultaneously surpassing $2 million in cash payouts for completed video assignments.
The expansion is great news for Brazil, a country that’s seeing steady crowdsourcing growth and is already home to a handful of crowdfunding and crowdsourcing logo design companies. comScore reports that Internet users in Brazil viewed a total of 26.2 billion online videos in 2010, and YouTube is experiencing 33% yearly growth in unique viewership. The evidence supports that Brazil is one of the world’s fastest growing online video markets and a great place for crowdsourcing solutions.
“We are excited to establish a physical presence in Brazil and Latin America as part of Poptent’s worldwide momentum,” said Andy Jedynak, Poptent CEO. ”While more brands and agencies globally are experiencing the benefits of crowdsourced video production, the $2 million milestone is especially gratifying, as it directly recognizes Poptent’s talented videographers for the work they do every day in developing high-quality video assets for visionary brands like Dell.”
The Boston Consulting Group projects that Brazil’s 40 million Internet users will experience an annual growth rate of 15% through 2015. In addition to a high rate of growth, Brazil enjoys a high level of participation in the social media sphere.
Brazil is home to a growing and dynamic combination of video consumers, content creators, and innovative brands. We are now able to more directly engage a growing localized base of brand advertisers and content creators, as well as a Brazilian marketplace that has already proven itself to include one of the world’s fastest-growing and most engaged populations of Internet users.

Expansion into Brazil is great news for Daily Crowdsource readers, as we’ll have more companies to discuss on our Portuguese crowdsourcing discussion forum.
Only 7 months after reaching the $1 million dollar milestone, Poptent surpassed the $2 million dollar milestone, when Brandon Carter, a NY-based videographer, received $10,000 from Dell’s ‘Mobility Gives Ability’ campaign.
Poptent’s growth and success is evident in the fact it took over two years to dish out $1 million, and barely seven months to cash out their second million. This growth is good news for crowdsourcing as it shows that Fortune 500 brands are seeing the value of crowdsourcing.
