Crowdfunded, Socially-Motivated Businesses Offer Inspiration

Celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall is the person backing a new crowdsourcing online community set to fund the schemes and ideas of green and social entrepreneurs.

Fearnley-Whittingstall, a well-known campaigner, and Peoplefund.it, a new social enterprise platform, aim to support and give funding to entrepreneurs who are trying to resolve and distinguish some of the world’s most pressing problems. The platform is developed by KEO digital, the digital leg of KEO films, which produces Fearnley-Whittingstall’s television series “River Cottage.”

The crowdfunding community offers many bonuses that one may not find elsewhere when seeking financial backing for projects. Crowdfunding not only carries the guarantee of exposure to 1.2 million contacts through associated sites, but also (especially when dealing with socially motivated or eco-friendly projects) provides direct funding whilst offering extra discounted services and benefits along the way.

The numerous success stories of other funded campaigns only go to highlight the impact that can be felt when grass roots projects are funded and come into fruition, even to the point of surpassing the expected achievements of the projects. Peoplefund.it works in the same way, giving people with ideas the much needed means to take their vision forward.

Examples of projects already performing successfully aided by Proplefund.it are Foodcycle and Bicycle Academy. Foodcycle effectively tightens the reigns in regards to waste, by turning surplus food into healthy food for the needy. On the other hand, Bicycle Academy gives people the skills needed to build a bike that will then be shipped to those needing transportation in Africa. Through crowdfunding, Bicycle Academy has already raise $19,040.00.

Peoplefund.it is a unique and innovative solution that taps into the philanthropic potential offered by the digital world. Community is no longer defined by location or limited to industry sectors; the open platform offered by the site’s crowdsourcing model means that anyone can support a scheme or project.
