Quick, Agile, Plentiful: TaskRabbit Crowdsources Your Day to Day Tasks

Written by Diogo Mourato.

Do you need to pick up a birthday cake, but you don’t have the time? Do you need to buy a ticket, but you don’t have the patience to wait in line? Do you need help moving the furniture around the house? TaskRabbit is a company with one answer to all these questions: crowdsource it.

TaskRabbit is a service that connects those who have little time in their hands with those who have time to spare. Basically, a TaskPoster creates a task, sets a price, and waits for a TaskRabbit to come along and complete the task. The service takes a curated crowdsourcing approach in selecting TaskRabbits – background checks are conducted on all applicants before they are allowed to join the community.

The company has also developed an iPhone app that lets TaskPosters and TaskRabbits follow tasks much more easily. Posters can create new tasks, follow the progress of a task, and send image and audio files for extra information. TaskRabbits, on the other hand, can ask for additional information, provide input on the task, and mark a task as complete.

TaskRabbits also offers a service for companies who might be looking for help to file documents, organize the office, or provide consumer feedback.

TaskRabbit services are available in Boston, New York City, San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, and Orange County. The company will soon be expanding its services to Portland, Seattle, and Chicago.
