New Social Ideation Platform Gives Life to New Ideas
The latest company to enter the arena of open innovation is AHHHA which has unveiled its free social ideation platform to make it easier to bring great ideas to life. AHHHA makes social ideation available to all by enabling individuals to register their ideas and then uses crowdsourcing to encourage continuous collaboration around those ideas. The wisdom of the crowd is then called upon to select the best ones to put forward for realisation through the AHHHA platform which uses a sophisticated algorithm to maximise the ideas’ monetization potential.
Anyone who finds themselves struck by a Eureka moment can submit their idea with a strong possibility of seeing it brought to life. The AHHHA service allows users to compose a written description of their idea as well upload accompanying images. The idea can then be shared with their social graph via Facebook Connect, as well as link to relevant YouTube videos. The service also allows users to determine how open they wish to be in sharing their ideas by customising privacy levels. It will be up to you whether your idea can be shared publicly or with select groups such as family and friends.
Once the idea has been submitted it can be opened up for the crowd to provide feedback by making comments, and vote up or down on the ideas. The idea can then be assessed as to its potential for success based on the number of positive votes, enthusiasm and support. Any bad ideas are filtered down to reflect a lack of interest, along with any suggestions for improvements or changes. An automated execution process takes care of the heavy lifting such as specification refinement, design, prototyping, and product development.
AHHHA’s social ideation platform not only helps bring an idea to fruition but also allows users to share along in the monetary rewards with the idea-originator. The financial rewards are offered using a point-based system, whereby contributors earn points which can be redeemed for a range of cash, products or services.
AHHHA recognized there is no shortage of great ideas, but the path to building and capitalizing on an idea is overwhelming, expensive, and intimidating. Understandably, most people typically don’t know how or become discouraged to see it all the way through. AHHHA is focused on automating and simplifying the entire life-cycle so that people can have a new avenue to follow their idea, without running into the typical road blocks required for product specification, patenting, financing, legal, etc. We’re really excited about opening up our service, developing an interactive community, and helping people pursue their ideas to success.
Matt Crowe, AHHHA’s founder and CEO
Social ideation is a fledgling form of open innovation that is quickly growing with its successful harnessing of aspects from crowdsourcing and peer- to- peer communities. It represents the next phase of web – based social collaboration, previously led by Facebook, Twitter and Zynga. The principle advantage of social ideation over corporate-driven platforms and micro-financing sites is that it invites a broad range of raw ideas from the public. AHHHA epitomises innovation beyond the traditional corporate boardroom walls offering a new way for people to capitalize on their ingenuity.
