Get paid for your free time with Field Agent

Written by Rebecca MacLary.

For our UK readers, there is a new iPhone app to get excited about if you’re looking for work. Field Agent offers small jobs to people with access to smart phones. Field Agent also offers employers and clients with work, the ability to get it completed in a short period of time. The theory behind this is that there are many people to do the job once it’s broken into small pieces.

Clients go to the website to add a job. They can ask seven different types of questions they need answered, such as yes/no, multiple choice, and photo requests. There is no limit to the amount the client has to pay (no minimum), and the client doesn’t have to pay until the job has been fulfilled, accurately. Payment is secured via PayPal. The benefit for Clients is that they get a large number of answers from all types of people, for a lower price than it would take to hire someone to go and do all that work.

Workers, called Agents, select simple jobs, like completing a survey, do all the work through their iPhone, and collect money for each job accurately completed. To sign up, an Agent starts by downloading the iPhone app (free). Each new agent starts out with a score of 85/100. The more jobs an Agent does accurately, the higher his or her score becomes. Agents with higher scores get the best jobs.

Some stats: in the two weeks since Field Agent UK launched, some interesting numbers have come to light. Based on numbers of the first 1,000 users, the average age of Agents is 31 years, and 16% of the downloaders were women. Surprisingly enough, there are Agents located all over the UK – in Scotland, Ireland, and England – even on the Isle on Man!
