Mob4Hire: Crowdsourcing for the Mobile Industry
Online mobile community Mob4Hire taps into crowdsourcing to get authentic mobile user feedback for smart phone applications, promos and websites. More recently, the company conducted a research program to determine the buyer behavior of mobile users, gathering its data through crowdsourcing. Based on the findings of the “Global Wireless Satisfaction Survey” done in collaboration with Business Over Broadway (BOB) President Dr. Bob E. Hayes, three-fourths of the total population of mobile users consider available mobile applications when choosing a mobile operator.
Another study that the group completed via crowdsourcing was about Customer Loyalty for Mobile Network Operators. This time, they used 32 network operators, according to their status in about 111 countries worldwide. This included the likes of Globe Telecom, Tigo, Mobitel, Ufone, Sun Cellular, Vodafone, Telenor, Warid Telcom, BSNL, Indosat, Dialog, Mtel, Mobilink, Smart Communications, Telcet, Orange, Rogers Wireless, and Safaricom. What they learned was that the handsets offered per plan in parallel to the mobile applications available had a direct impact on the user’s selection of mobile networks. The survey was completed using a sample group of five thousand users ages 18 and up, a majority of which were male.
The idea behind crowdsourcing for mobile research branched out from what Mob4Hire Chief Executive Officer Stephen King calls “real world feedback”. By using actual mobile users as their key survey respondents, they get useful, practical and authentic data that can be applied in the highly dynamic mobile market. Dr. Hayes maintains that Mob4Hire’s research platform allows players in the mobile industry to get a realistic idea of what makes their target markets tick, and how to better improve their products and services.
